I have no way of know the answer to that, nor do I think it is comparable. But if they gave the award to one orchestrator and then, after a hue and cry from the public, took it back and gave it to someone else, yes I would think that would diminish the award and render it a meaningless gesture.

But that of course is not remotely what happened with the dimming. Nobody's honor was revoked in order to give it to Rivers.
