KeKe Palmer's opening as Cinderella tonight has become a national story

Regardless of whether any of us believes that this event SHOULD be a major story, the fact is that it's clearly become a significant national news story. Yesterday, I happened to be watching MSNBC and KeKe was interviewed, and tonight, just a short while ago, the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams did a five minute feature on tonight's opening. Not only was KeKe interviewed, but so was Robyn Goodman, and a few brief scenes were shown from what I assume was the dress rehearsal. (And by the way, KeKe, who has charm to spare, looked absolutely gorgeous in costume.). So the national media has clearly bought into the fact that something that they consider to be groundbreaking starts tonight.

I sincerely hope that this casting attracts people of color to this wonderful show, especially kids, and from the sociological perspective, it will be interesting to see if it does.
