It's actually both things. There is respect accorded people who have amassed enough support from the public AND from producers and designers and big Broadway stars such as Jackman and MacDonald to reverse a decision.
You don't know why Phil Smith changed his vote( if he did) any more than I do. Perhaps he figured it was time to get the matter settled or perhaps he got enough calls from colleagues, friend or even his wife saying he should do it.
