I loved the book. The play...not so much. I enjoyed the first act, but the second act was too long. Too much time and effects were spent on the sensory overload that Christopher experiences on his journey to London. We get the point. Let's move on. There were some interesting bits of staging, but I didn't understand the point of having all the actors on the stage for much of the play. It really felt like it was to give them something to do rather than to add to the story telling. The acting was very good, especially that of Alex Sharp, who plays Christopher, but the accents for some of the actors in the smaller roles seemed to come and go. The staging seemed too big and overdone for the story. There were too many special effects for my liking. I'd suggest reading the book and skipping the play.
