| I actually saw this presentation and it was pretty amazing. It was completely staged and choreographed, from beginning to end by Andy Blankenbuehler, who did a masterful job. Jarrod Spector was fine throughout, hardly ever leaving the stage. Laura Osnes stopped the show cold with her eleven o'clock number "Welcome Home." It will be interesting to see how this develops. I look forward to it. | |

| I saw it too, but didn't post about it since I thought it was against ATC rules to post on workshops and/or invited dress rehearsals. | |

| We don't have any rule on workshops, and let people make their own judgment on what is appropriate to comment on in public. Per the Terms of Service: 3.1 (o) Reviews or reports of invitation-only dress rehearsals/gypsy run-throughs are not permitted on All That Chat. Talkin' Broadway feels it is implicit in such an invitation that the performance is closed to the public and the invited guests are not to publish their opinion of the performance. We will not allow direct links to any reports/reviews of invited dress rehearsals on other websites in posts on All That Chat. (Note: Because Encores! rehearsal passes are made available to paid members of City Center, Encores dress rehearsals are currently exempt from this policy.) | |

| Happy to be able to post my thoughts, and Rob encouraged me to share them anyway. (While not a shill for the show, yes, Rob Taylor is a good friend and has been the violinist for shows I've MDd in the past.) I was completely blown away by the performances, direction and choreography. Having never seen a NYC workshop (I've seen many at Barrington Stage) I was caught off guard by how completely staged this was. Although LCT offered them lights, sets, etc., the creatives opted for a more bare-bones approach, though only in those areas. The musician/actors were all top notch and I can't recall a time when I cared so much about so many well-drawn characters. (There is also a small, offstage pit which often gets to relax.) One thing the buzz doesn't seem to mention is that each member of the band is very damaged in some way by their war experience, and must juggle these demons. It definitely hearkens to The Best Years of Our Lives. The story is quite timely, has several surprises and I was really moved by it in the end. It certainly needs some tweaking, but it was fun to see everyone in the audience jumping for their cell phones at the start of intermission. | |

| A lot can happen in the next 10 months. Not to mention the next 21 months, since Riedel presumes to be predicting the 2016 Tony-winner! He gets away with writing such dumb stuff only because nobody is obsessive enough to go back and count up all the times he's been wrong. | |

| I think there are a lot of people obsessive enough, but gossip (like, say, satire) is not measured by its accuracy, and it is silly to obsess over it. Let it entertain you in the moment, or ignore it, but don't take it as gospel. Gossip≠Gospel. | |

| I don't regularly follow Riedel, so I don't know. And yes, a lot can happen in 10 months, but Rob Taylor's a good friend and this still made me smile. | |
