the musical number is titled "The C*cks*ckers Ballet" without the asterisks....
I'm not a prude, but the number was half-hearted, gratuitous and not all that clever. that said, the notion of an on-the-field brawl turning into a ballet is pretty great....I just wish they'd really DONE it here instead of the pulled punch I saw on stage last night. And to open Act 2, no less.

It should be pointed out -- I was there tonight -- that the number you're referring to, which you describe as half-hearted, got a huge hand and I was grateful that it didn't overstays its welcome. It's a small idea, neatly executed.

I liked this one much better than the previous poster -- I thought it was a ton of fun, actually, like an old fashioned musical comedy re-envisioned, and I think Susan Werner's score is constantly first-taste. It's the first time in a long time I've heard an audience laugh at lyrics. There's lots of work to do, no doubt, but I thought they were off to a very impressive start.

to be fair, it got a huge hand the night I saw it, too. and it definitely didn't overstay its welcome. And Werner's lyrics got a lot of laughs, though mostly in the numbers I admired in my earlier post.

I think this show has the potential to be much more substantial than the let's-recreate-the-beloved-movie approach they are taking. Swenson, Errico and Behlman are all so good that you just want it all to be stronger.

As I said in my post, I think the show can be successful-- and with its current team. But I guess I think it needs a lot more work than you do. I liked the whole thing enough to hope that more people agree with you than with me!
