I was going to suggest that one as well, but I thought you might think it a little too far afield from the main theater district. Of course, it all depends partly on what theater you're going to that day/night.

Renaissance and Theatre Row

Theatre Row has pretty good good...and it's only 2 blocks away from Westway.
Galaaxy can be very unfriendly and the food isn't great.
As much as I am a fan of Renaissance...they have had a B Grade up now for a month or so......and I am not into taking chances although that's my favorite.

prices go up significantly on 8th Ave

Well, I never thought this thread would get so detailed!

In my opinion, the Westway, Galaxy, Renaissance, and Theatre Row diners are all very similar in terms of food, price, and service. The only major differences are in terms of size and exactly location. But I guess some people get very territorial about their diners. I remember someone declaring to me years ago that one of these diners was "far superior" to another, and it made me giggle :-)

And don't forget the Edison Cafe on 47th St.
Best Matzoh Ball Soup in town!

I also love the Edison, but the thing to remember there is that they do not take credit cards. We rarely go there because it's rare that we're carrying enough cash anymore to cover a meal.

Another vote for Theatre Row Diner here. Been frequenting it for years. Great varied menu, with a friendly and efficient staff.

Oh, no...the best diner in the neighborhood is the Renaissance at 9th and 52nd. :)

Should have read through the whole thread first before posting above. I like the Renaissance, too.

Used to frequent the Renaissance all the time until I noticed their health inspection grade went from an A to a B.

That's too bad. If you knew some of the reasons behind the grading system, you might not have begun avoiding the place. You might want to do some research on that.
