DRY LAND - Spoiler Request

Much has been made of the brilliance of DRY LAND. Much has also been made of a scene towards the end of the play that Ben Brantley called "almost unbearable to watch." With that (and knowing what the show is about), can someone please discuss what exactly happens in that scene? And please mark your headline with "SPOILER" for others who might not want to know. Much thanks.

I haven't seen this production, but I did read the script earlier in the year. I don't remember exact details, but basically a pregnant teenager enlists her best friend's help after taking pills to induce labor of the fetus. On the page, it's quite intense, and I can only imagine more so on the stage. I wouldn't quite go so far as to say "Dry Land" is brilliant, but it is a very compelling, impressive work, and I look forward to seeing what Spiegel does in the future, once she's had some more life experience.
