A friend of mine was in a similar situation: she went to see the Globe broadcast of Henry IV, Part 2, having never seen the play before... and they talked about Hal spurning Falstaff in the pre-show interviews.

Seeing the Medea broadcast in a few weeks. I'd watch Helen McCrory read the phone book.
