. . .I have reacquainted myself with an unsuccessful concept album from the late fifties, THE LETTER, created by the forgotten master, Gordon Jenkins, and sung with breathtaking splendor by Judy Garland with spoken assist by John Ireland. What a sweet and charming love story set in the NYC of a more innocent time. Judy is in flawless form, sounding youthful and self assured. My whole point is that I think somebody, maybe Audra, might work fine in a staged adaptation. Liza would have been very good about thirty-five years ago. What a love letter. buzzie, who wouldn't mind being thirty-five years younger
