An understudy in "The Sound of Music Live" earned around $60,000 total--and they weren't even seen on television. I can't even imagine what the ensemble or supporting actors must have been paid. It's no wonder that A-list Broadway stars (who are not well known outside of theater) flock to the supporting roles in these TV productions. They won't find better paying jobs anywhere else!
