It is an excellent film. I believe Kim Novak considers it her best performance, even more than "Vertigo."

I initially watched it sorry that Gena Rowlands, who had done it on Broadway, had not been cast, but Kim made it easy to get over that. She is excellent.

. . .MIDDLE OF TE NIGHT and of the gorgeous Kim Novak. We are so fortunate to have many good adaptations of plays of the fifties. BUS STOP and SEPARATE TABLES come to mind. By the way, have you ever seen Kim's delightful NOTORIOUS LANDLADY. Great Gershwin soundtrack and terrific turns by Jack Lemmon and my boy, Fred Astaire. And don't forget Estelle Winwood. buzzie, so glad to be back home where I belong
