| Ms Channing was absent from both performances yesterday, and will be out again today. The formidable Isabel Keating is her standby. Anyone know if these absences were planned or not? | |

| Having Keating as the understudy is a real luxury. She's a Drama Desk and Theatre World winner, a Tony nominee, and been wonderful in everything I've seen her in. | |

| Wow, I don't know if having two Tony nominees as standbys says more about the prestige of the show or about how difficult it can be to find good roles no matter your pedigree. (Probably both.) | |

| Didn't spot you from my standing room spot amid that full house, Bruce. I thought Isabel K. nailed it. She was very funny and touching, her naturally throaty voice absolutely perfect for the role. The only line that might have gotten a bigger reception if uttered by Channing had to do with actresses' cosmetic surgery. For obvious reasons. The play had numerous funny moments but also some dead spots which could be eliminated by cutting a speech here and there. (Looking at you, Broderick.). Very impressed with Micah Stock, amusing as the theater wannabe. | |

| what exactly was wrong with her Vera,other than her costumes which made her look cantilevered. the production was too black and white, and spottily enjoyable but how was Miss Stockard Channing a horror? | |

| Well worth seeing. Lane and Channing are the best on the stage. I didn't have to mortgage the house. I got $72 (full price) tix in the next to last row in the mezzanine, which was fine. | |
