An interesting, if overly long production. The three scenes in the first act run a little over 90 minutes, they are followed by a 30 minute intermission to allow time for the theatre space to totally reconfigured, then the final act is a little over an hour. The reconfiguration took some extra time the night I was there, so the evening, which started at 7, did not finish until 10:25.
The acting is solid, but there are no extremely noteworthy performances. If you are familiar with the source material you may be distracted by memories of the original actors, but Bergman's intense analysis of the act of loving and living together still holds up. It is definitely a play for grown-ups, I'm not sure a younger audience will recognize or relate to the confusing and contradictory emotions Bergman was shining his light upon.

I understand the seating of this production is general admission only, no assigned seat(s) at time of ticket purchase. Is there a reason for it? Do audience members move around to observe the "scenes" or one just stays put in your seat through the whole performance?
(Thanks in advance for replying.)

It's promenade style. You follow the action through the house. I haven't seen it myself, but the impression we got from reading about it is that there are no seats.

For the first act, the theatre is divided into three areas. Each area has seating and the seating is first come-first served. You are seated for all of the scenes, you are not moving about except when you move to the next scenes during the first act. You remain in one seat for the entire second act after the intermission. So you are not standing or moving for any of the performances, just when changing from scene to scene.
