| For what it's worth, I walked up to the box office at 7pm on Wednesday night and asked for standing room. It wasn't available, but they offered by an orchestra seat for $49, which wasn't a price posted anywhere. (It was Row O on the side, but I had a great view.) | |

| That's actually the wheelchair price -- which they technically should not have sold to you (at that price) unless you have a disability that requires such seating. | |

| The law allows it if all other seats are sold out in that section. You don't have to hold ADA seats indefinitely. Wonder if that is what happened? | |

| Right, but wouldn't they be sold at full/regular price instead? I remember buying a last minute ticket to Company in 2007 (one of the PBS tapings) & I was sold a low-vision seat, but not at ADA prices. | |

| I have always had better luck going directly to a box office, whether NYC or not. Have had similar offers you would never get online or through a ticket agency. | |

| That used to be my experience-- oddly, I've found that recently it hasn't been working. I wanted to see Evita, I went to the box office about FIVE MINUTES before the curtain because there were only premium seats listed left and I can't afford that. I asked if they were releasing the premium seats at regular price, which I would've happily paid- they said no. I understand they can only do what the producers tell them, but I couldn't for the LIFE of me figure out why the producers would've wanted the seats EMPTY (there wasn't exactly a line at the box office) rather than have an extra $250 for my friend and I to see the show at regular price. It was REALLY annoying. | |

| i do this all the time but 1. EVITA and HEDWIG are two shows i wouldn't count on for this to work anyway. people forget that EVITA may have had it's detractors but ricky martin made it a hot ticket. the fact that it worked recently for someone with HEDWIG is a good sign. now that NPH is gone it's just another good, hot (but not crazy hot) show. heading to the box office right before a show opens doesn't work (always) for honest-to-god-limited runs with celebrities. but even for really, hot, good shows, with a fair amount of buzz - you can usually get those last minute tix. even for something selling as well as KINKY BOOTS it works. friends got saturday night premium tickets at regular prices a couple of weeks ago. also - i don't think rannells has generated the kind of buzz some thought he would. the oh-my-god-wait-till-you-see-him talk i heard hasn't panned out. maybe it was justified, maybe not. i don't know. i'm seeing him this week. 2. someone who practically lives in lottery/rush lines told me - and i don't know why - never to actually ask for a premium seat at regular price and i don't. you can see the bo person decide to either release the seat or not and 9 times out of 10 they do. being polite helps. and i never, ever cause a scene at the box office. the decision at the beginning of the run may be the producers but at some point - and i am sure front of house people will say i'm wrong about this but i believe it and 90% of the shows i see are either with a group a last minute purchase - the box office folks take it into their own hands. also, and i had to actually explain this to a friend of mine who should have known better - you have to actually pay full regular price. he tried to haggle a cheaper price. needless, to say, i dont think that will often, if ever, work. | |

| I've definitely gotten what were likely house seats (or at least were really good Orch seats) at the last minute by using a discount code (e.g., BroadwayBox). Not always of course, and sometimes they won't even sell them to you at regular full price, so I guess it really just depends on the show/producers/BO staff. | |

| I love Hegwig and saw it twice with NPH. If I had time and I was near the theatre, I would check for available seats at premium prices and then I would go to the box office and see if they would sell me anything that had opened up (but not at premium prices). I was not lucky the three times I tried. I have paid a lot of money for theatre ("The Maids" at CC recently) and opera, but I still have never paid premium. I wonder if I soon will. | |
