''Piece of My Heart'' wraps up Off-Broadway, hopes to rock Broadway next

Posted by: WaymanWong 09:50 pm EDT 09/15/14

Zak Resnick, Leslie Kritzer and Linda Hart gave their summer-long run of ''Piece of My Heart'' a sensational sendoff on Sunday at the Signature Center. I hope this salute to Bert Berns gets the Broadway run and cast album it deserves.

Jeremy Gerard at Deadline.com reports that ''Piece of My Heart'' hopes to move to Broadway in the spring ... with a little help from one of its friends: Paul McCartney. Of course, the Beatles recorded one of Berns' biggest hits, ''Twist and Shout,'' and McCartney is a big booster of his: ''Bert deserves to be elevated to his rightful place in music industry and respected and honored for it.''
