N. Richard Nash’s Romantic Comedy The Rainmaker is a true piece of Americana. A beautiful, timeless tale of what it means to take a leap of faith in desperately hopeless times. As described by Nash: “The play takes place in a Western state on a summer day...in a time of drought. I tried to tell a simple story about droughts that happen to people and about faith.” InThe Rainmaker Lizzie’s hopes and dreams have run dry when the charismatic Starbuck arrives out of nowhere, selling promises of rain - Lizzie must decide: is he a con man, or does he hold the key to everything she desires?SHOWS: Previews: October 1st & 2nd @ 7:30 pm / October 4th @ 8:00 pm Opening: October 4th @ 8:00 pm Run Dates: October 1st - 26th, 2014 Wednesday & Thursday @ 7:30 pm Friday & Saturday @ 8:00 pm Sunday @ 2:00 pm WHERE: San Jose Stage Company - 490 South First Street, San Jose, CA TICKETS: For tickets ($20-$65) or more information, please call the box office at 408.283.7142 or order online www.thestage.org Pittsburg Community Theatre announces the opening of its theatrical season with Sherlock Holmes most famous and popular mysteries, THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES. This gripping tale, directed by Lisa Marie Taylor, deals with the curse of the Baskerville family—and the fiendish killer-hound which stalks its members. As the action begins Sir Charles Baskerville has died under mysterious circumstances, and his nephew and heir, the young Sir Henry, has been threatened even before his arrival at Baskerville Hall. Enlisting the aid of Sherlock Holmes he sets out for his ancestral home on the Devon moor in the company of Dr. Watson, Holmes' trusted colleague, a journey which brings him to danger, mystery and a series of events which build steadily in menace and suspense. Hard pressed to protect his charge, and to fathom the strange mishaps which beset him, Dr. Watson is much relieved when Holmes himself appears—to trap the diabolical killer who stalks Sir Henry and to unravel the fascinating mystery which accounts for his evil actions.
