Chance Theatre, in Anaheim, has been expanding. It moved from one end of the industrial complex in which it was housed to the other end, acquiring enough space for two theatres. It opened one of these theatres a year ago. Now, it plans to open the second theatre in February 2015. And, it is greatly expanding its programming to fill two spaces. Chance has just announced a 2015 season that puts six shows on the main subscription series, plus a two-show holiday series, and a three-show theatre for young audiences series. The company will also stage play readings.

Chance has quickly become one of the major players in the Orange County theatre scene, due, I think, in large measure to a creative team that does clearly innovative work with generally excellent results, a commitment to reaching out to artists beyond Orange County to sponsor new work, and a local set of college theatre programs that produce quality graduates who've had limited places to perform locally until Chance came along. The company has done well in the LA-area theatre awards, and it deserves to be watched in the next phase of its development.
