First Timer to Feinstein's

Posted by: PatrickHSF 10:56 pm EST 11/09/14

Looking forward to seeing Betty Buckley on Friday. I've never been to Feinstein's. Any hints? We got upfront tix. Was planning to arrive around 645 and have a light dinner in the club. I checked out the restaurant but sushi isn't my thing.

And the big question, does tipping the maƮtre de get you a better seat? How much of a tip? Though seems to me the club is intimate and frankly I don't care sitting smack dab in front of the stage.

Was just there last Saturday for Laura Benanti where someone in the line as we waited to be seated also asked about tipping. I've never tipped or have seen people tip. Everyone who works at Feinstein's works for the hotel, so I don't think they would turn you down if you did tip.

The room is small and I don't think there is a bad spot in the room, and yes it can be loud. I recommend getting there within the first 30 minutes of when the doors open so you can get a good up-front seat. I also like their menu and it helps with the $20 minimum per person. Hope you have a great time. I'll be going back soon for Telly Leung.

It's a small room and way overamplified--when frankly, the room is so small, why does it even have to mic'ed in the first place. I think the sound booth is behind glass, which is a huge mistake.

Anyway, I've seen a half dozen shows and sat in many different spots ( never tipped) and have found it all too loud.

I think by eating there, you should get s good seat.

I have been to the club many times and I have never seen the matire de being tip. All of the tables are reserved a head of time I would not tip the matire de. Sight lines and sound are terrific at the club.

Also the restraint up stairs has more other excellent food then sushi. Generally the artist come out after the show in a bar area just to the right of the door into the club itself. If Betty comes out after the gig and you have a chance to talk to her just say Richard from TB said hello.

Enjoy tonight.
