Chicago at orpheum

Posted by: dramedy 01:42 pm EST 11/13/14

I saw the production last night. It's been probably 10 years since I've seen it live having seen it about 5 times during the first few years on Broadway and tour.

This production has a cast that have performed In The Broadway production at some point over the years. It's a very good ensemble cast with everyone bringing strong performances. No one really stands out as a star like previous versions. Everyone pulls their own weight. I found it highly enjoyable and recommend it before it leaves town.

I was there last night as well. I had low expectations but was happily surprised. The production is tight and in good shape. It was a delight to see the show again - we saw it on its first (revival) tour a few years ago.

I was very pleased with John O'Hurley who charmed the audience from the get go. Strangely, enough I found the weakest members of the cast were the two female leads. It was sad to see the ensemble so tight in a Fosse-esque move - except for one dancer. The lead. However, the material and production is so good that it was OK.
