My understanding (which sounds right) is it will cost ITS ONLY A PLAY $800,000 to move to the Jacobs to the Schoenfeld. (less than 50 yards). Part of that is having to install dimmers and cabling, and the lighting and sound rigs (broadway theatres come with nothing - whast called a four wall deal), as well as moving sets props and costumes.

So they offered THE AUDIENCE $400,000 to take the Jacobs instead. This puts $400,000 in the pocket of THE AUDIENCE producers, and saves ITS ONLY A PLAY $400,000 in moving costs - a net savings of around $400,000.

For THE AUDIENCE, they would have had the costs of redesigning the set/lighting for a different theatre - I imagine not major changes, but still, things to be dealt with. And they would have had to reassign a lot of seats and change their ad campaigns etc. So they would have spent a chunk of thet $400,000 - certainly $100,000+ - on doing all of that stuff.

And then be in a theatre they dont want to be in.
