Tonys get feedback over Sound Design ruling, but will pleas fall on deaf ears?

These rulings all sound pretty common-sense. And speaking of sound, the rules committee has been asked to review a petition of more than 32,000 signatures urging that the Sound Design categories be reinstated. Its signatories include Hugh Jackman, Susan Stroman, Debbie Allen, Jon Robin Baitz, Diane Paulus, Des McAnuff, Cyndi Lauper, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Stephen Sondheim. On many Playbills, Scenic Design, Costume Design, Lighting Design and Sound Design share roughly the same billing. I'm still baffled why the Tonys would single out Sound Design to dump, especially since it's been handed out since 2008. Whose idea was it? I hope its vocal supporters stir up enough noise to get this ruling reversed.
