The author, James Gavin, wrote an article for Vanity Fair right after Peggy Lee died that focused on her strange personal life. Glad in this interview that Gavin talked so much about her superb musical gifts.

Gavin is right; Lee was no Billie Holiday. Despite some down periods, she was able to have a 40-50 year career at or near the top of popular music in the United States, Europe and Japan.

She was not much associated with film, but was nominated for an Academy Award for "Pete Kelly's Blues." She was also the star of Disney's "Lady and the Tramp." Year later, Lee won a major lawsuit against Disney concerning the rights to her songs on VHS.
