and every time people are hoping he does something great, or avoids the traps they don't like of his.

I really liked his Sweeney revival, even though I didn't think it made much sense conceptually, and I really liked Company where I thought it worked conceptually, and I really liked Road Show which didn't have his normal concept. But I do think he is a very very limited director.
