And I'm not going to speak particularly articulately on the subject, but I thoroughly enjoyed the CSC Allegro. I didn't think the instrument-playing was a negative - it was just one way of doing it.

The story is a small one, about one man, and this presentation in a small theater with one man and his world. Somehow having everything on that stage (including the music) was a positive for the storytelling, to me.

Sat next to a man who had seen the APAC production and he enthusiastically liked both. We talked about how this production made the story more contemporary/timeless rather than locked into an early 20th century setting (even though it still is set then).

The musicianship was little uneven, but a lot of it was fine - I think one problem is that the small space means you may be much closer to one instrument, which brings its sound out too prominently (I was in the side front row).

I also thought the cast was good - another admirable performance by Clayborne Elder.

I was never bored. There are shows/genres/themes I don't care for and I just avoid them. I'm not furious that they exist. Plenty of other things for me to see and enjoy.

It's possible Doyle's techniques will stop been used, and that's fine, too. Styles come and go.
