I think they're being a little rough on you...

I am sure that you - showsyourtalent - understand that performers are not required and should not be expected to sign autographs and pose for pictures at the stage door after a show. If they give you a great performance inside the theatre, that should be sufficient.

Having said that, we all know that certain performers - particularly movie stars - attract a lot of attention when they do theatre work in NYC, and there is a tendency for a certain group of fans (whether they have seen the show or not) to assemble at the stage door for a close-up look at a film icon, and perhaps an autograph or photo.

I had the good fortune to go backstage following Thursday night's ELEPHANT MAN and was apprised by another cast member that Mr. Cooper had been spending a generous amount of time post-show in Shubert Alley, doing selfies and autographs.

When we emerged through the stage door, Mr. Cooper was already outside, making the rounds inside a larger than usual penned in area (he on one side, fans on the other) and he was actually taking the selfies for each fan. He held their iphones, focused the frame, and took the picture.

I have never seen a performer do that before.

Whether he will continue to stage-door when the weather chills remains to be seen. It was mid-30's with freezing rain on Thursday night.

PS. Some of the Shubert Alley-side windows at Junior's restaurant provide a bird's eye view of the Booth Theatre stage door.
