"Elliot" (aka Billy) Elliot

Posted by: Chromolume 08:09 pm EST 11/15/14

Saw the HD-cast today - it was my first experience seeing the show, and now I'm sad I waited so long. I really liked the show, and was very moved by a lot of it. The cast was superb, not the least of them the very strong and engaging Billy, whose first name just happens to be Elliot.

Anyone else seeing it today notice some trouble with the sound at times? In our (sadly underpopulated) Boston cinema, there were some small glitches early on, and some more disruptive ones towards the end. But luckily, nothing more than that.

Also, the backstage "intro" was fun, and the dance finale with all of the Billys past and present was also great (and yet didn't overstay its welcome after an already long show). Plus, one of the original Billys (Billies?) playing his older self in the Swan Lake segment - very moving. Henshall was a perfect Wilkinson. (Her last scene with Billy really did have me in tears.)

Very glad I saw this.
