Was that Leila Martin, later a Maria replacement in the tour of West Side Story, Gwendolen in Earnest in Love, Gutele Rothschild, and Madame Giry for a very long time?

Was there any mention of Timmy Everett in the discussion? One thing that's never been written about in any book that I know of was an attempt to produce the show after Lemuel Ayers's death and before Styne and Fosse got involved. That middle attempt was to have starred Timmy Everett, who had just made a splash in The Dark at the Top of the Stairs.
