Cruel and nasty

I believe you must realize that many many people associated directly and indirectly with SIDE SHOW are regular posters on this board. That headline you just put up is cruel and nasty, especially to them.

You've made your views about the show known loud and clear in the thread below Matthew Murray's review. Enough is enough.

Have you no decency, Sir?

A little overly sensitive , no? Come now. Haven't you learned by now that this board is almost exclusively for the cruel and nasty .... And pompous. Buck up.

I don't think any other theatre has a chance for vacancy soon. Not wishing SIDE SHOW any bad energy.

I just LOVE Hunchback! Those people deserve a chance on Broadway too.

Neil Simon also---Last Ship can't last through the spring.

I doubt that Sting taking over a role will help much.

And let's mis probavly needs to make $500k plus a week. It's been bouncing around $650k most of the fall and at 50% potential gross last week. It's probably on the fence of staying put unless the shuberts have a better show to put in there.

I imagine most people assume If/Then will close whenever Menzel leaves.

I thought they'd try to keep 'Les Mis' running until they're ready to bring the 'Saigon' revival over, but 'Les Mis' seems to have slowed down a bit.

it has to be losing money now

it made only 36% of potential gross last week. the week before was $569K which after you take 8% fees off, is just above $500K, which is probably break even for that show. i doubt that they can financially wait until her contract is over which is probably feb.

Les mis started off well, but has really taken a dive. It was probably just too early for a second revival of the show.

But you DID wish SIDE SHOW bad energy. You asked what is going in their theater next as if that might be soon.

They are playing the Papermill Playhouse in March which would make a spring opening in New York unlikely. There will probably be several houses available for a summer/fall 2015 opening on Broadway.

it is the second production of the show

So might be more ready than aladdin or newsies that had only one production and needed time to refine for Broadway. With the fall musicals so far not much competition for Tonys, disney may see how things shape up to rush in. However, I suspect tonight's first preview of honeymoon will make it the show to beat.

Yeah, they won't be able to open on Broadway (assuming that's going to happen, which seems likely) until next season.
