The category was "Actresses On Stage" and the clues cited in the original post were:

"If you know that this actress, who died in 2014 at 89, won a Tony for 'Applause', just whistle!"

and

"Since starring as Evita in 1979, she's become one of Broadway's biggest stars."

The clues were not cited in the original post, hence the query.

That's why I provided them.

No good deed goes unpunished, apparently.

Sorry, you wrote "the clues cited in the original post," but it's now clear that you meant the clues for the answers (or, in the case of JEOPARDY!, the questions) that were cited in the original post.

I don't remember exactly but the Lupone answer was along the lines of "She has been a major Broadway star since Evita". No one attempted to supply the "question".
The Bacall was, she died this year at 89 and starred in "Applause". One of them buzzed in with Stritch for that one.

"Be more specific."
(As in, what are you talking about?)

Oh, no big deal really. The correct responses to a couple of "answers" last night were Bacall and LuPone. No one even buzzed in on LuPone and someone said Stritch for Bacall. I thought it was interesting that Stritch was even on their radar.
