perhaps the greens are a red herring. The Witch's mother entrusted the beans to her daughter, the Witch. The daughter lost some of the beans to the Baker's father. Therefore, the curse of the mother was enacted upon the Witch. The Witch places a curse on the father of the Baker and his descendants for stealing the beans. When her curse is lifted so are her inflicted curses. This does, of course, not explain what happens when the Witch throws some beans away toward the end of the play, reactivating her mother's curse and she vanishes….only to reappear to sing "Children Will Listen". This, of course, brings up a question regarding the relationship between the Giant, the Witch's mother and, the beans. But, I guess, that is another story.

That's another story...never mind..anyway..

Also, the witch coming out to sing Children Will Listen has never been part of the "plot" to me.

It's a song to wrap up the show.
All the dead people are there.

Hey, it worked in Titanic..
