Actually the last couple did sell out. But that's it. In fact, I sat on the theater stairs because there were no seats. After all those empty houses I remember so vividly coming through the 45th-46th Street alley and seeing LINES of people trying to get in. A sight I will never forget.

I was there. Yes, quite a night. The 10 minute ovation at the top. The line outside. Norm Lewis making his way to the stage door through throngs of well-wishers. The performance of "Say Goodbye to the Freak Show" drawing more tears than even the text demanded. And of course, the tumultuous ending. All making the current production all the more special, on so many levels.
