Also very interesting, thank you. I'd been under the impression that understudies weren't required during previews only.(Maybe that's Broadway?)Never knew about the 6 week rule and I wonder now if shows are often scheduled for that length of run at least partly for this reason. Of course, in tonight's instance, it's costing the company to not have the understudy, although possibly only for non-subscribers, and less than it would have cost to have paid for at least two understudies.
