And I thought another "one of the big trademarks of Encores was" reviving stage musicals. Here was not, however, the Fred and Adele Astaire original version, as seen on B'way. in 1931, but a very different movie adaptation that was itself very heavily adapted by Encores. Of course, the big difference was that the "regular" Encores presentations, as Jack Viertel claims over and over again, are not being mounted in the expectation of a transfer to the Great White Way. BAND WAGON was being done for no other reason than that hope.
