Title question

Posted by: Johno60 12:06 am EST 11/20/14

My play has the same title as a not so famous movie--although the movie has a THE in front. Not the same story. Any thoughts? Occasionally people mention the movie to me--maybe 1 out of 20 people know it.

It depends on what comes after THE. If it's a very bland phrase, probably you're okay--though why would you choose a bland phrase?

If not, I'd reconsider, especially if the movie is either particularly good or bad.

To accurately gauge the title's recognition, look up the movie on IMDB, see how many people voted on it.

Well I am a film buff and I follow Woody Allen's career, who appeared in the film as an actor, so yes, I definitely know about The Front. But maybe I'm not typical.

But I don't think your naming the play with the same title would be a big issue.

I don't think that the OP meant that the word "front" was his title.

Looked like he was saying that the word "The" was "in front" of the rest of the tititle. I.e., that original title had "the" and his title didn't.
