Lionel Bart's JEKYLL AND HYDE with Kirk Douglas!

Posted by: Teacher64 11:35 am EST 11/23/14

Found this musical TV production on Youtube. From the man who gave us OLIVER! (though it looks like there are two other people credited with Music and Lyrics as well; no way to know which songs are Barts).

Interesting. Never knew about this. Does anyone remember another musical version with Jack Palance and Billy Whitlaw? One of the songs was Two Fine Ladies. Don't recall who the composer was.

Wow, I completely forgot about this. Saw it when it was first broadcast. Didn't remember that Bart was attached to it. Does anyone remember this musical treatment of Hans Brinker & the Silver Skates with songs by Moose Charlap. With Peter Pan right around the corner, maybe Moose needs a little film festival.

I distinctly remember seeing this when I was all of 14, much the way one clearly recalls a childhood trauma. I remember thinking at the time, "This is shit". But I have never (unfortunately) been able to forget poor Kirk Douglas pedaling around warbling "I have a bicycle! Ding! Ding!"
