Broadway Ticket Games

Today's Sunday Times has a full page ad for The River and its extension to February. But they don't tell you that the prices have been reduced meaning that the same seat that went for $175 will now be $135 during the extension. That's great for we suckers who have paid the higher price. This smacks of the same game they play on Broadway with premium seating.

That's always the risk you take for early ticket purchases

Sometimes it pays off -- as anyone who bought tickets to Book of Mormon during the preview period can attest -- and sometimes it doesn't.

I had front row center mezzanine the week after Mormon opened. I had purchased them months ahead, not knowing what was going to be on stage. My price? $75 each. I've unfortunately bought tickets at full price to some really big stinkers -- Wind in the Willows, Charlie and Algernon, Harrigan 'n Hart, just to name a few.

I wonder why they have lowered the price and for how long? Was the original run a sell-out?

I see that there are still some scattered seating available for the current run, and those seats have been reduced also. Seats that were $184 ( fees included ) are now $125 ( plus fees ).

I think this just might be Exhibit #1 in the "some people around here just like to complain" claim

Well, I don't like finding out I paid more for a ticket than I needed to either, so make me Exhibit 1a.

...I'm sure Broadway.com will still sell it to you for $175 thanks to their how-is-this-not-a-crime fees.
