That sounds terribly off-topic, but it's my counterpoint to the financial reality of marketing. A friend was doing LA MANCHA in Florida when the film version of PLENTY opened, to little fanfare and even less box office (a movie I love, but that's another topic). He saw my subject line on a marquee. Yeah, Meryl was irrelevant, it was Sting's participation in the film version of David Hare's play that would get you to fork over your bucks.

Of course, that was the mid-80s. Still, I couldn't help but think of it this morning.
