I still think there's some truth to the idea, expressed by Goldman in The Season, that young people age into theatregoers. So that if Sting starred in something now, he might do better.

But I don't think that his taking a supporting role in The Last Ship will have much box-office effect at this point.

If he could sing it, and wanted to do it, I bet he could sell as Sweeney Todd. Or another leading role that might suit him. But a supporting role in The Last Ship, no.
