In general the first act is played very broadly, which I personally liked. Red Riding Hood was big and goofy and relatively thoughtless, the two princes were on giant tricycles, the witch makes her first entrance in a wheelchair, the cow is played by an older actress, and things like that. I thought the choices made for a fun and unexpectedly delightful evening, but clearly the above poster (and a friend of mine as well) thought otherwise. The second act gets very serious and has real depth to it and the ending is just wonderful and very very moving.
