Salute to the best of 2014

Posted by: Dr._L 11:45 am EST 12/28/14

I never see enough theater to complete a top ten list. Rather, I annually select one moment that I will treasure.

Years ago, Broadway legends would bring their latest vehicle to SF. I remember seeing the original cast of A Chorus Line; Angela Lansbury in Sweeney Todd; the trio of Anne Baxter, Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy doing Noel Coward in Two Keys; Julie Harris in The Belle of Amherst; to name a few.

Those days are pretty much gone. Yet for a few shining performances, Tony winner Andrea Martin played the final dates of Pippin at the Golden Gate. And it was sublime. I cheered till my throat ached and beat my hands till they hurt.

Thank you Ms. Martin for sharing a performance that I will remember for the rest of my life.
