Matthew Murray takes a look at Dying for It:

Lament the overpoliticization of life in the 21st century all you like — it could always be (and has frequently been) worse. Take, for example, the strange case of Semyon Semyonovich Podeskalnikov, the unemployed schlub of a Russian (or, rather, Soviet) man at the center of Moira Buffini's play at the Atlantic Theater Company's Linda Gross Theater, Dying for It. As soon as word gets out that he wants nothing more than to kill himself, he becomes more popular than ever: with women, with the Church, with party hacks, with revolutionaries, with paupers — everyone sees reflected in his drab visage the hopes of a life unlivable, the promise of a message heretofore undelivered. It's the most meaning Semyon has ever found in his pathetic existence, at the moment he wants it least. . . .
