The old Broadway comedy audience, somewhat ignored. Remember when the Simon plays, or even those paper-thin sitcom translations like CACTUS FLOWER or the ghastly (truly) FORTY CARATS pulled people in with stars? Bacall and Julie Harris attached? That dynamic isn't entirely gone (or is it?), but it's an old school B'way base that isn't catered to regularly. What is the equivalent of a Simon show today? Hard to define. Maybe it's this. It's good news for everybody. B'way needs hits, period.
