I love the film but the stage revival cast is underwhelming. The film was sublimely cast and Maurice Chevalier, Leslie Caron and Louis Jordan brought an French authenticity to the film. The current cast lacks that authenticity that I feel makes the film special. Even the original play Gigi - one starring Audrey Hepburn- had a European if not Gallic air. I just feel the revival cast, competent as they may be, lacks the same authenticity.
