As someone who was not moved or convinced by The Last Ship, I don't mind losing it.

But, yeah, this Gigi thing seems a terrible idea that is almost surely doomed to fail. (I know I've posted similar thoughts on this here before, as have others.) Of course, some shows that have seemed doomed to fail have surprised everyone. But this one succeeding is almost unimaginable to me. And I don't think I've ever said that here before any announced show.

And the article that appeared a couple of months ago about the approach that the rewrite is going to take only seemed to confirm that it's a terrible idea. A wholly new adaptation of the source material might work, but trying to adapt that movie yet again for the stage is perhaps the worst idea for a Broadway show of anything I've heard since . . .

I wonder just how definite this booking of the Neil SImon really is. If the D. C. reviews are not good, will this really still come in?

Of course, if it's a hit, we'll all be embarrassed to have written it off prematurely.
