So the show that prepared for Oscars night (Constellations) gets snubbed, while The Elephant Man has scheduled its final performance for that day and will have to cancel.

But the difference in planning could have also been from the precursors. This is Bradley Cooper's third nomination in a row, but he's basically received no attention during this movie awards season (probably in large part because American Sniper came out so late). Jake Gyllenhaal, on the other hand, was nominated for a Golden Globe, SAG, Critics' Choice, and BAFTA. But the Academy loved American Sniper, giving it 6 nominations including Best Picture, and it didn't feel that way about Nightcrawler, which got 1 nomination.

I would have been too superstitious to have adjusted the schedule prior to the nominations announcement. But that probably makes me a bad producer.
