| NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE TO BROADCAST BEHIND THE BEAUTIFUL FOREVERS BROADCAST TO CINEMAS INTERNATIONALLY ON THURSDAY, MARCH 12, 2015 TICKETS NOW ON SALE Celebrating its 6th year bringing live theatre to cinema audiences around the world, NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE is pleased to announce an international broadcast of Behind the Beautiful Forevers, a new play by David Hare, based on the book by Katherine Boo, directed by Rufus Norris, live from The National Theatre of Great Britain's Olivier Theatre on Thursday, March 12, 2015. Pulitzer Prize-winner Katherine Boo spent three years in Annawadi recording the lives of its residents. From her uncompromising book, winner of the National Book Award for Non-Fiction 2012, David Hare has fashioned a tumultuous play on an epic scale. India is surging with global ambition. But beyond the luxury hotels surrounding Mumbai airport lies a makeshift slum, full of people with plans of their own. Zehrunisa and her son Abdul aim to recycle enough rubbish to fund a proper house. Sunil, twelve and stunted, wants to eat until he's as tall as Kalu the thief. Asha seeks to steal government anti-poverty funds to turn herself into a 'first-class person', while her daughter Manju intends to become the slum's first female graduate. But their schemes are fragile; global recession threatens the garbage trade, and another slum-dweller is about to make an accusation that will destroy herself and shatter the neighborhood. The cast includes Hiran Abeysekera (Sunil), Esh Alladi (Guard at Dongri / Defender), Nathalie Armin (Poornima), Pal Aron (The Master / Judge CK Dhiran), Tia-Lana Chinapyel (Noori), Vincent Ebrahim (Karam), Sartaj Garewal (Mahadeo / Airport Director), Mariam Haque (Officer Kulkarni / Clerk of the Court), Thusitha Jayasundera (Fatima / Judge PM Chauhan), Muzz Khan (Nagare / Taufeeq), Ranjit Krishnamma (Raja / Abdul), Manjeet Mann (Cynthia), Nikita Mehta (Noori), Anjli Mohindra (Kehkashan), Tia Palamathanan (Noori), Ronak Patani (Mirchi), Bharti Patel (Laxmi), Pehrr Ramrakhyani (Noori), Anneika Rose (Meena), Chook Sibtain (Fishlips / Prosecutor), Gavi Singh Chera (Rahul), Stephanie Street (Asha), Meera Syal (Zehrunisa), Anjana Vasan (Manju), Assad Zaman (Kalu) and Shane Zaza (Abdul).
