This is not a help on the sight line, but when we went to see This is Our Youth at the Cort, the usher brought my mother (age 88) a lovely "booster" seat (a nice fitted cushion). It was terrific. I didn't realize theaters had them for other than children. (it wasn't a plastic kids booster). Your relatives should feel free to ask, I think.
