So much of his stock and trade - and of musicals nowadays in general - is just plain CAMP -or aren't musicals just RIDICULOUS and let's send the whole art form up and isn't this all just so GAY! I mean that was the thrust of SPAMALOT - DROWSY - and MORMON. And yes ALLADIN. How much winking at musical comedy conventions must we bear? Wouldn't it be great if he did something in a slightly different vein? Then again, why mess with success....I guess it's working for him. But it's wearing thin with me.
