Unless, of course, the "big financier" simply mentored her & changed her life for the better - and that could have happened to her at a comparatively young age.

After all, Ann Miller was cast in the film Stage Door when she was 14. And something similar could have happened with Carlotta - not necessarily an RKO film role, but something that improved her circumstances and kept her from being "depressed."
